‘Klaar voor de start’ preschool facility
Most of Hero’s preschool locations work with an Early Childhood Education programme, or ECE for short. ECE programmes are fun, varied and challenging for all toddlers. But that’s certainly not all. ECE gives children just that little bit of extra support with their language and social development before they start primary school.
Hero Children’s Centres works with the Uk & Puk and Pyramid ECE programmes. These are play and learning programmes which perfectly link into ‘Klaar voor de Start’; an initiative launched by the Municipality of Haarlem. Uk & Puk isn’t just about lessons and learning, it’s also about having fun, making discoveries and enjoying plenty of movement; the exact things your toddler enjoys doing most! Our educational staff will encourage the children’s activities in just the right way, making sure your child can learn new skills through play. We work with themes that perfectly connect with how toddlers experience the world around them. The employees who work at our ‘Klaar voor de start’ facilities are all trained to effectively apply the programme, making sure the toddlers can learn through play in a relaxed atmosphere.
Here’s how Uk & Puk works
Babies, infants and toddlers can develop more fully and at a quicker pace when active and enjoying fun activities. The Uk & Puk play programme isn’t difficult, but it is well thought out. The activities stimulate speech and language skills, social-emotional skills, motor skills and sensory skills, even giving the toddlers their first maths incentives.
Need some help registering for preschool with ECE?
The ECE programme offered by Hero is fun and educational for every toddler. It serves as excellent preparation for primary school too. However, some children need that extra little push in their (language) development. In such cases parents are issued with a so-called ECE statement via the child healthcare centre (Jeugdgezondheidszorg, or JGZ). This will entitle your child to 16 hours (4 x 4 hours) of preschool per week.
You need to register your son or daughter as soon as you have received an ECE indication for preschool. It may sometimes take a little effort to find the right path. Our placement employee, Esther van Riessen, is more than happy to assist you in completing the proper steps. She organises walk-in sessions at one of our toddler care locations three times a month. Esther will personally answer any of your questions during these walk-in sessions, can help you with completing the required forms and will organise the registration of your child at a location. Do come along and see her!
