Most of Hero Children’s Centres’ toddler care locations work with an Early Childhood Education programme, or rather ECE for short. ECE programmes are fun, varied and challenging for all toddlers. But that’s certainly not all: ECE will give children just that little bit of extra support with their language and social development.
Hero Children’s Centres works with the Uk & Puk and Pyramid ECE programmes. These are play and learn programmes which perfectly link into ‘Ready to Start’; an initiative launched by the Municipality of Haarlem.
Uk & Puk isn’t just about lessons and learning, but especially about having fun whilst learning, making discoveries and enjoying plenty of movement. The exact things your toddler enjoys doing most! Our pedagogical staff will encourage the children’s activities in just the right way, making sure your child can learn new skills through play. We work with themes which perfectly link into how toddlers experience the world around them. The employees who work at our Ready to Start locations are all trained to effectively apply the programme, making sure the toddlers can learn through play in a relaxed atmosphere.
This is how Uk & Puk works
Babies, infants and toddlers can develop more extensively and at a quicker pace by being active and enjoying fun play activities. The Uk & Puk play programme isn’t difficult, but it is well thought out. The activities stimulate speech and language skills, social-emotional skills, motor skills and sensory skills, whilst also giving the toddlers their first maths incentives.
In need of some help with registering for toddler care with ECE?
The ECE programme offered by Hero Children’s Centres is fun and educational for every toddler. Plus it serves as excellent preparation for primary school too. However, some children need that extra little push in their (language) development. In such cases parents would be issued with a so-called ECE statement via the child healthcare centre (or JGZ). This will entitle your child to 16 hours (4 x 4 hours) of toddler care per week.
You need to register your son or daughter as soon as you have received an ECE indication for toddler care. It may sometimes take a little effort to find the right route. Our placement employee, Esther van Riessen, would be more than happy to assist you with completing the right steps. She organises walk-in sessions at one of our toddler care locations three times a month. Esther will personally answer any of your questions during these walk-in sessions, can help you with completing the required forms and will organise the registration of your child at a location. Do come along and see her!
