Nursery; focussing on growth
All children aged 0 to 4 are very welcome at Hero Children’s Centres’ nurseries! The children are appropriately stimulated in their development in a safe environment. With plenty of attention devoted to them, the children feel seen, heard and understood. Each child develops towards becoming the very best version of themselves in their own unique way and at their own pace. And there will always be a suitable nursery near you, with a total of 20 nurseries in Haarlem and Spaarndam!
Groups
Each child forms part of his or her own basic group with permanent pedagogical staff. Hero Children’s Centres works with vertical groups (children aged 0 to 4) and horizontal groups (separate baby, infant and toddler groups). This differs per location.
A safe environment is absolutely essential for young children. Children can discover the world around them from a safe base when they feel they’re in secure and familiar surroundings. The children become attached to their own regular pedagogical employees and develop a warm and loving bond with them. Intensive one-on-one contact is particularly important for babies. Which is exactly why we spend plenty of time cuddling them, playing with them and talking to them. It goes without saying we have lots of fun with the children too, as that naturally makes everything just that little bit better!
Attention
Hero Children’s Centres always adopts a positive approach where the children are concerned. We are involved in their worlds and know exactly what the children need by attentively watching and listening to them. They therefore feel seen, heard and understood and subsequently enjoy much better social-emotional development. We are also literally closer to the children. We adjust our pace. We communicate, assist and look after the children with both patience and undivided attention.
Sleeping
Sleeping is very important to young children, in order to allow them to effectively process their experiences and impressions. All Hero Children’s Centres’ nurseries have separate bedrooms. Some locations have outside beds too, in line with the Scandinavian example. These are weatherproof sleeping houses where children will often enjoy a more peaceful, deeper and longer sleep, as the outside air quality is better.
Eating & drinking
We think responsible and delicious food is of the utmost importance. We have compiled a varied range of food and drinks at all our locations, together with nutritionists and with advice from the nutrition centre. Our supply consists of products with sufficient nutrients and vitamins and, if fresh isn’t an option, without refined sugars and with as few chemical additives as possible, such as colours, fragrances and flavourings. Children who can eat and drink independently are free to make their own food choices. We encourage variation to promote their taste development. It goes without saying cooled down breast milk or any special diet form part of the possibilities too.
Activities
We organise fun activities every day, which are always perfectly suited to each child’s age and development phase. These activities are focussed on one or more development areas: language, thinking, social, creativity and motor skills. We have a toddler gym and toddler music on offer too. We work with fun and appealing themes, which remain in place for five weeks.
Design
The design of our daycare centers makes a major contribution to the pedagogical situation, it is even said that the design is the third pedagogue (the first is the child himself and the other children, the second the adults around the child). Children tend to start running in an empty space, while they play in a well-designed space. Playing means development, and offering opportunities for development is an important part of our pedagogical policy.
